Tangent Gives Surprise Donation
Last week, Tangent invited our Communities Manager – Janis Robinson – to speak at their monthly group event. The meeting was held at El Greco restaurant in Stratford upon Avon.
Janis said “it was a great evening and really fun to meet such a supportive group of women”. After dinner she was given time to explain VASA’s community groups: supporting carers through carers’ cafés, helping people living with dementia through Memory Clubs and dementia-friendly activities, organising coffee mornings for people to socialise and make new friends, Together Widows, for anyone who is a bereaved partner, a Community Café set up at Stratford Town Football Club, for people to come along and find a friendly place to chat and have a hot drink.
Janis also mentioned the Community Transport Service and the Wheelchair Loan Service, which is part of VASA and enables people to attend health appointments and visit family and friends in hospitals and care homes. As well as social inclusion activities.
The event was attended by 25 members of the Stratford upon Avon Tangent Club, which is a ‘mixture of fellowship, friendship, fun and fundraising’. And the evening ended with Julie Taylor thanking Janis for her time and handing over a donation, which had been collected for the charity.
